Hydrogen peroxide uses for plants

Did you know that our cells produce hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct of normal cellular processes? Our body synthesizes Catalase, an enzyme and biocatalyst, to decompose hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Biology students catalyzed this reaction in the lab and then tested the effects of pH and temperature on enzymatic activity. They found that high heat denatured their enzymes, extreme pH levels had the same outcome, and cold temperatures make enzymes sluggish. 🧪 | St. Bernard's Academy S
