The least amount of stuff in your puppy’s crate, the better. ONLY give chew toys you have previously monitored your pup with and know they can’t tear apart and ingest. Puzzle toys and similar toys are great outside of the crate with you can monitor them. Licking helps soothe dogs so items like a Kong can be a safer option for puppies (again test their bite strength prior to leaving them with it) to help them settle down.
