Eliciting ‘r’ can be tricky when a child doesn’t understand what their tongue is supposed to do. I love the ‘karla’ method for younger kids who are just starting to work on ‘r’. It’s a great starting point bc it helps kids get the back of their tongue elevated for ‘r’. I use a lot of hand motions to show that it’s the back of the tongue that is supposed to go up and not just the tip of the tongue.
