The Sherman Tank

The M4 Sherman’s 75mm gun struggled against the heavily armoured German tanks like the Tiger and Panther. In 1943, two British officers had the idea of installing a British 17pdr Anti-Tank gun into the turret of a Sherman. The result was a tank that could effectively knock out those heavy German tanks.
