Most furniture flippers are sanding down to raw wood incorrectly. Here’s how to properly sand down to raw wood. First you start with 80 or 100 grit sand paper, this should not take all the finish off. It should take some finish off but not all. Then you move to 180 grit and take more of the finish off and then finally you remove the remaining small amounts of finish left and smooth with 220 grit. The process is gradual moving through grits.
