Melting metal with a torch that isn’t quite powerful enough can be a ball ache - so thanks to @clairetaskerjewellery I had a bit of a mad scientist morning. Preheating the crucible is key - here it sat on my hookah stove for 10 minutes while my hookah charcoals were heating up. I placed the hookah charcoals under the crucible on my soldering surface and heated from above using my @durstontools standard butane torch for 3 minutes to completely melt 24 grams of silver.
