2015年5月31日 · Side by side, the iPad Pro 3rd gen wins of course, but the difference is surprisingly subtle. iPad 8th generation is A12 + 3 GB RAM. I haven't used one myself but nonetheless it should be very good, with an SoC that is ballpark in the same league as A10X iPad Pro 2nd gen (sometimes better, sometimes worse), and the same amount of memory as iPad 7.

Wouldn't upgrade OTA due to lack of space, so thought I'd try upgrading with it tethered to my Mac. Big mistake it would appear - got stuck in the factory restore loop. Tried a few times, and eventually gave in and went to our local Apple store.

A12 is a big dividing line, not just in performance, this and several features (mainly introduced with IOS 15) didn't make it even to the very powerful A10X (in the 2017 iPad pro). One of the reasons if the lack of the neural engine, even though in the case of YouTube this is probably not the reason.
