German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has also been critical of Musk's involvement in politics, having said that Musk “is supporting extreme right positions.” During the event, Musk first placed his right hand on his heart, then stretched it upwards and repeated the gesture. He has rejected the criticism, saying the comparison is “sooo tired.” He also criticized the media coverage that compared his gesture to the controversial salute and claimed it was just an awkward and harmless gesture. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization that campaigns against anti-Semitism, has defended Musk, stating that his gesture should not be equated with a Nazi salute. The activists who organized the projection explained that they were not only concerned with the gesture itself but also with Musk's political affiliations. The “Centre for Political Beauty,” which has made a name for itself thanks to previous provocative actions, has said that this will not be the last demonstration of its kind. The center's artistic director, Philipp Ruch, explained that they will continue to “show such images” to draw attention to the political influence of Musk and other tech billionaires.
