2016年12月6日 · The mast boot usually leaked and the wedges would groan when the mast moved in a seaway. On my C&C the wedges fell out and it was a real PITA to pull the boot, install the wedges, put the boot back on and make it waterproof.

Once up far enough hang a turning block and make a four or five part block and tackle. Run the tackle line through a deck block and over to the jib sheet winch. 2016年5月31日 · Freedom made a retrofit, or at least designed it. A simplified explanation is the mast is cut into two parts. The retrofit involves two aluminum tubes, one epoxied into the lower half., the other tube epoxied into the upper part of the mast. When stepping the mast, the upper tube telescopes into the lower section and is still un-stayed.

2013年7月29日 · The main mast is three feet too tall and the spreaders too this makes it easy to figure out how much to cut off. The gooseneck can be reriveted easy. The problem I have is how to cut a straight cut around the mast. Normally for something like this I woul just measure several times from the current end around the mast and connect the dots.

2012年1月29日 · When we painted our (clear) anodized mast we sanded to bare metal, mild acid wash and primed and painted with Awlgrip, a pricey 2 part polyurethane paint. It worked out very well, but as mentioned is not cheap and develops dangerous fumes requiring special protective equipment for those mixing as well as the sprayer.

2006年5月2日 · When I applied it to the aluminum mast, it did add a bit of lustre, but not as much as I had thought it might, and it didn't seem to make any difference in the long run. At the end of each season, it was not possible for me to differentiate between how the mast looked depending on whether I had waxed that year or not.

2019年5月21日 · If you leave a small gap, you can use the screws to clamp the collar to the mast and keep it in place. I use a PVC mast boot made by Sailing Specialties. Davis or Taylor also made a universal mast boot that I have used but I don't see it online. When I owned a wooden boat, I made a mast boot out of canvas and painted it to seal it.
