2009年4月5日 · My house was underpinned following mining subsidence, and my insurer did not bat an eye lid when I took out the policy, as they had previously insured it. I have also working in the insurance industry for (Her-humm) years and can re-assure you that you will be able to get insurance for it, most probably at no extra cost.

Most properties in that area are built on London Clay and not uncommon to see properties underpinned. However there is always a stigma attached and many buyers will walk away.

I have contacted the council to see if they had any information with no luck, they advised they do not keep documentation before 1990 . 2023年9月14日 · It was done 20 years ago. The issue with the trees and the property opposite was much more recent. I think I’m ok with buying a house that’s been underpinned as long as the paperwork and survey checks out but I guess I’m concerned that the stigma may make it more difficult to sell in the future and thus affect the sale price.

2021年1月22日 · We were underpinned about 25 years ago, the front flank of our house. It was due to dry clay soil and tree roots. Everything was dealt with at the time of the underpinning, no further problems apart from a few hairline cracks in plaster, nothing to do with movement.
