"Isomerization" in Hops??? - Homebrew Talk
2009年10月2日 · It isn't necessarily isomerization it is dissolution that is the problem. Isomerized alpha acid have a low solubility in water. If you do partial boils, and then dilute up to 5 gallons, you are limiting the amount of solubilized iso-alpha acids in …
At what temperature do hops add bitterness? - Homebrew Talk
2010年10月20日 · There is isomerization of alpha acids at temperatures under boiling, but the isomerization rate falls rapidly as the temperature drops (Arrhenius factor). The amount of isomerization will be dependent upon the rate of cooling and the time available during that cooling. Mike offers some ballpark contributions based on his system performance.
Adjusting hop utilization profiles when using a Hop-spider
2014年7月21日 · Not true in practice. -The stainless hop spiders sticking up out of the wort essentially make the whole thing a big cooling tower; the inside of your hop spider can be as low as 208F while the wort outside of the spider is at boiling. The reduction in temp == reduction in isomerization rate.
Whirlpool IBU Calculations? - Homebrew Talk
2011年10月23日 · depends exponentially on -1/temperature. The shape of this curve is an exponential approach to a plateau. So as temperature drops down from boiling, the isomerization rate decreases very slowly at first. Not only is isomerization not negligible at temperatures near boiling, it is almost the same as the boiling isomerization rate.
Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?
2017年4月24日 · isomerization said: I forgot to add that the Julius isolate is certainly unique via this DNA fingerprinting method! So, what this really means is that I need more yeast samples to analyze, I'm looking into figuring out an easy way to mail samples through the postal service (only costs a stamp!), if anyone has suggestions and is interested in ...
Question on adding hops at end of boil - Homebrew Talk
2014年6月20日 · I believe Isomerization occurs down to 180*F. This is why hop bursting is so popular in the larger craft breweries. They can add huge amounts of hops right after the boil to get the intense flavor and aroma and not dry hop.

Overbuilding yeast starters vs top cropping - Homebrew Talk
2019年1月26日 · isomerization said: I would say overbuilding is great for long term storage (1-12 months) of yeast you want to reuse but not right away. I believe top cropping works best on specific yeast strains (eg British) while harvesting yeast …
