Corona (planetary geology) - Wikipedia
In planetary geology, a corona / k ə ˈ r oʊ n ə / (plural: coronae / k ə ˈ r oʊ n iː /) is an oval-shaped feature. Coronae appear on both the planet Venus and Uranus's moon Miranda and may be formed by upwellings of warm material below the surface.
Corona (optical phenomenon) - Wikipedia
In meteorology, a corona (plural coronae) is an optical phenomenon produced by the diffraction of sunlight or moonlight (or, occasionally, bright starlight or planetlight) [1] by individual small water droplets and sometimes tiny ice crystals of a cloud or on a foggy glass surface.
circular features on Mars bear a close resemblance to coronae. The most prominent corona-like feature on Mars is Alba Patera, a broad, low-relief, plateau-shaped volcano-tectonic center surrou.
Corona structures driven by plume–lithosphere interactions and …
2020年7月20日 · Among documented tectonic structures, circular volcano-tectonic features known as coronae may be the clearest surface manifestations of mantle plumes and hold clues to the global Venusian...
The Coronae of Venus: Evidence for Ongoing Volcanic Activity?
2020年7月28日 · The Magellan space probe mapped the surface of Venus for over four years from its launch in May 1989 and returned images of ring-like volcanic structures called coronae on the surface of Venus. The coronae are thought to have formed through mantle plume activity, which brings hot, upwelling magma from the depths of the mantle to the surface of ...
Venus: The corona conundrum | Astronomy & Geophysics
2006年6月1日 · Coronae are large circular features on Venus, whose complex structure, with traces of tectonic and volcanic activity, mean that their origin remains enigmatic. Their nonrandom distribution, complex geological histories and associated volcanic features have been explained most successfully by models involving mantle upwelling.
Coronae on Venus: Morphology, classification, and distribution
1990年10月1日 · Coronae are irregular to circular structures characterized by a complex interior zone and maximum widths of 170–690 km. Corona-like features resemble coronae but lack an annulus of ridges. Twenty-one structures that fit the definition of coronae have been identified in Venera 15 16 coverage, along with eleven corona-like features. Each group ...
CORONAE | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary
Coronae are conventionally named for goddesses: however when it was first discovered it was thought to be a crater, and named accordingly. Coronae develop when a mantle upwelling …
Corona (Venus) - SpringerLink
2014年1月1日 · Circular to ovoid structure on the surface of Venus consisting of partially to fully complete concentric tectonic structures that are usually aligned with a raised rim or trough. Coronae consist of interior (dome, plateau, depression, or no relief) and exterior (rim or trough) elements (Smrekar and Stofan 1997).
Structural analysis and evolution of large Venusian coronae: …
2024年10月1日 · We analyzed topography, fracture patterns, and faults of the asymmetric Atahensik Corona (700 × 900 km diameter), formerly known as Latona Corona, and their surrounding troughs using Magellan SAR imagery, and compare the results with the smaller, ovoid Didilia (400 × 450 km diameter) and Pavlova coronae (550 × …
