[Spoilers] What was the entire point of Yidu's character?
I think the main purpose of the character Yidu was to weaken Ragnar, so the audience could see a strong Björn. She is like a red flag, announcing Ragnar's decline and upcoming demise. In my opinion, the story did not need such a character. Yes, we had a good laugh with screwed up Ragnar in the boat, rowing like a mad man. But that was all.

2023年8月4日 · The way I understand that whole plot line is that it’s Ragnars ultimate and final fall from grace. Up until this point he was a very reasonable man, compared to his kinsmen at least. Him killing Yidu shows that his morals have changed drastically. Regardless of how upset he was, he was never one to drown a slave.

2023年6月10日 · Yidu shouldn't have been in the show in the first place. Her character makes no sense and had completely inconsistent behavior, and it's pretty obvious she was included for her exotic appeal and the writers realized her character was a mistake and they needed to remove her from the proceedings ASAP.
[NO SPOILERS] What drugs are Ragnar taking? : r/vikingstv - Reddit
Yidu's "medicine" is more similar to opium in dramatic effect. Plus it fits her Chinese origins. But opium does not look like betel nut. Note the plot hole- did she carry all this stuff with her as a slave, from China? There are drugs obtainable in the environment shown. But they would not likely be unique to her.

2022年12月7日 · Yidu was a cool character her and ragnars conversations on philosophy were great example "I'm constantly torn between killing myself and those around me I have always thought death was better than life for their we will be reunited with lost loved ones" ragnar "in my world you must have a life worth living before considering death" yidu.
[SPOILERS] [S4E8] I just can't forgive Ragnar... - Reddit
2017年8月20日 · The Yidu story was the most unlikely plot in the whole series. A chinese girl ends up in northern europe a thousand years ago? And then it turns out she is the daughter if the emperor of China?
Bad writing [Spoiler] : r/vikingstv - Reddit
2019年9月2日 · Yidu, as with many passing characters that hardly play a role in the show, is there to facilitate Ragnar's own weaknesses. Ragnar is pain and feeling betrayed by his kin, so whether it was Yidu's drugs or just Ragnar drinking himself to death, the result would've been similar.
[Spoilers] Yidu : r/vikingstv - Reddit
2016年3月19日 · Yidu is replacing how Athelstan broadened Ragnar's horizons, feeding his desire for knowledge of the world. While it's not impossible for a Chinese slave to end up in Scandanavia, I think it would have been more likely if she was a Moorish/Semitic/Persian slave from Spain. This would also give Bjorn more reasons for going to the Mediterranean.
[SPOILERS] So what was the point in this character's relation.
2016年8月5日 · The fact that she was Chinese was because politically the showrunners have to make the cast diverse in order to not appear racist to the modern audience. That said, Ragnar killing yidu was The best moment since her introduction.
