Then the system will be monitored on a BCD536HP that I use for streaming. I plan on mounting the yagi antenna in the attic of my 1 story home, about 3.4 miles away from the simulcast site.

I can pick it up with a vertical antenna at 30 feet, or a fourteen foot long 21 element Yagi at 25 feet. In this case there's no advantage to changing the elevation of the Yagi. Heck, there's no advantage to even using the Yagi.

Without knowing all the details, locations, topography, buildings, and all the hundreds of other variables, no one would be able to tell you if it's going to 100% fix the issue or not. You might want to try building a Yagi antenna, they are not hard.
