Wanshou Temple was one of dozens that once lined the canal route from the western edge of the Imperial City walls (at Xizhimen) to the Summer Palace. The temple fell into disrepair after the fall of the Qing dynasty in 1912, with the Wanshou Hall burning down.

2024年9月26日 · First impressions of Wanshou Temple (now housing the Beijing Art Museum) Wanshou Temple, also referred to The Temple of Longevity, had some pleasant surprises. Although the site is not as large as other locations in Beijing, there were some beautiful architectural features, as well as the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts activities.

Wanshou Temple or Temple of Longevity. It was built in 1577 during the Ming dynasty. It a Buddhist temple and it was said to have stored many Chinese Buddhist scriptures. It was often used as a place of celebration for the imperial families of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Wanshou Temple was built in 1578 by Emperor Qianlong, in order to celebrate the birthday of his mother, twice repaired and expanded Wanshou Temple, making it an integrated complex of a temple, gardens and palace for the emperor’s temporary stay when away from home.
