El Gallo de Oro was allegedly killed in Tamaulipas by members of Los Zetas for singing corridos in favor of the Sinaloa Cartel. I really don't remember the name of the song Valentin Elizalde sang that night. I've read that El Hummer was the Zeta who ordered the hit on El Gallo de Oro.

The second hypothesis, and the most accepted one, is due to a note given by his cousin to Valentin while he was singing at the "Expo Feria Tamaulipas". In the note, "El Tano" asked him not to perform the song "A mis enemigos" (To my enemies) , because among the audience was a member of the Zetas.
