I have found a way around it by stopping the SMS Agent Host service, deleting the InventoryAgent.log and rerunning the hardware inventory cycle. SCCM is now reporting the correct information. This is a bit tedious to do on all workstations so have written a script to kill the service rename the file and restart the service.
