If youre using seal weld to add strenght to the joint then youre using it for the wrong reason. but if the intention is to provide tightness againts leakage - sure its allowed. most especially if your trying to mitigate leak of hazardous material.

2023年10月25日 · Questions: can i do a seal weld between 904L N08904(tube) and 316L(tubesheet) with gtaw autogenous welding? i read that 904l could lose a little of corrosion resistance, but in this case, as only seal weld the tube expansion is in charge to resist forces. 2010年3月10日 · The weld they specified was a fillet weld all around the cap with the notation "seal typ." in the tail of the weld symbols. The shop used .030 hard wire and welded the caps all around with a standard "fillet" weld. Its hard to really call it a fillet weld because the conditions of the weld don't really allow for a fillet.

2008年1月27日 · Hi, Like to know the reason a plug has to be seal-welded to the tube of a heat exchanger. It just so happens in the plant I am working, when a Turnaround take place, all heat exchangers with tube seal-welded to tubesheet has to have the plugs seal-welded to the tubes as well. Thank you.

Another example besides that given by ksnar would be a threaded pipe joint which is welded to stop/minimize leaking. 2003年4月12日 · The most typical 'seal weld' is a threaded joint where a weld is put around the area where the threads meet the hole. This weld has no stress on it, as the strength is in the threads. The weld is only there to seal the threads and prevent leakage. And I fully concur with your "internal standard".
