White oak (Quercus alba) is an outstanding tree among all trees and is widespread across eastern North America. The most important lumber tree of the white oak group, growth is good on all but the driest shallow soils.

Quercus alba, commonly called white oak, is a large deciduous Missouri native tree of the white oak group. It typically occurs in dry upland slopes and ledges as well as lowland valleys and ravines throughout the State. Grows to 50-80' tall in cultivation and taller (to 100') in the wild.

It is native to the eastern United States and is usually found in forested areas of dry slopes, valleys, and ravines. Young trees are typically pyramidal in form, but as the tree matures it has a rounded and broad crown. The distinct feature of this tree is its fingerlike lobed leaves with rounded tips and no bristles.
