I am concerned about moisture through the wall of the basement. Some precast concrete wall providers guarantee water tight walls with insulation on the inside.

When it comes to thermal performance, there are only two criteria that matter: airtightness and R-value. All of these systems (and ICF walls) should be relatively airtight.

The warranty and claim that there system is waterproof and requires no waterproofing other than a french drain at the bottom below the wall. Do I still need to go over the top of that with dimple drainage mat over the walls or is the concrete sufficient enough?

2020年1月29日 · We are planning to use a fairly similar system - SIC-System - concrete free including the basement floor. Only concrete needed is for the footings. Basement walls will get waterproofing membrane and dimple/drainage mat. The whole house will be build with this system except for the roof. Looking at R-50 for slab and walls.

2018年10月21日 · The basement uses a precast concrete foundation from Superior Walls, and it will be a conditioned basement. The precast wall system is easy to insulate, except at the edge of the slab floor. For structural reasons, the slab is poured inside the precast wall and the slab needs to be tied into the bottom plate of the precast wall.

2023年6月21日 · I think the gap between the concrete and the drywall is a desirable feature. The gap prevents moisture from wicking up into the drywall lowering the risk of rot and mold. The gap between the drywall and the basement floor does not seem like the prime location to focus your air sealing efforts. Walta

2021年3月5日 · When I hit bottom of stairs I got about 3 feet to wall. I could add 1 inch insulation and attach 1/2 inch drywall directly to concrete. That would give me some insulation without making wall too thick. I would loose some heat in interior concrete walls without insulation but don’t know how that compares to the concrete walls that are on outside.
