I just don’t get the real use of it cause copy paste just seems faster and more direct instead of using a completely different software. Like does it better preserve raw data or is just safer or something?

Do I need the Nikon tools in my workflow? My current workflow, based on advice I got a few years ago from a professional photographer, is to shoot in Nikon's RAW mode, transfer the files to my computer with Nikon Transfer 2, convert the NEF files to TIF with Nikon ViewNX-I, then pull those TIF files into Lightroom for post processing.
