A naẓar (from Arabic ‏ نَظَر ‎ , meaning 'sight', 'surveillance', 'attention', and other related concepts), or an eye bead is an eye-shaped amulet believed by many to protect against the evil eye.

In the northern states of India, such as the Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, the evil eye is called nazar (meaning gaze or vision) or more commonly Buri Nazar.
