Meninges 1 - Digital Histology
The brain and spinal cord are surrounded by three protective membranes called the meninges. The outermost layer is the thick dura mater. The middle layer, the arachnoid, lies adjacent to the dura mater and extends trabeculae through the subarachnoid space to contact the pia mater.

Chapter 1: Normal gross brain and microscopy - Stony Brook …
THE MENINGES The meninges consist of three layers. The outermost is called the dura mater, also known as the pachymeninx (pachy = thick). It consists of two fused layers of dense fibrous connective tissue. The external layer is adherent to the skull and actually forms the periosteum. In older individuals, the dura can fuse with the skull.
Microscopic morphology and histology of the human meninges
The meninges comprise the dura mater and the leptomeninges (arachnoid and pia mater). Dura forms an outer endosteal layer related to the bones of the skull and spine and an inner layer closely applied to the arachnoid mater. Leptomeninges have …

2005年3月1日 · Despite the multiple anatomical arrangements and physiological functions, leptomeningeal cells retain many histological features that are similar from site to site. Les méninges sont composées de la dure-mère et des leptoméninges (arachnoïde et pie-mère).
The Meninges - Dura - Arachnoid - Pia - TeachMeAnatomy
2021年6月2日 · The meninges refer to the membranous coverings of the brain and spinal cord. There are three layers of meninges, known as the dura mater, arachnoid mater and pia mater. These coverings have two major functions: Provide a supportive framework for the cerebral and cranial vasculature.
The Meninges - SpringerLink
2023年9月28日 · Histology of meninges: Dura mater propia (intense dark pink) has distinct dural limiting membrane (faint pink) that is separated by a subdural space from arachnoid limiting membrane (dark pink) which is several cell layers thick. On left, vessel in the subarachnoid space penetrates brain substance.
Meninges 2 - Digital Histology
Meninges The dura mater is composed of dense irregular connective tissue. The thin arachnoid membrane adheres to the dura and extends trabeculae across the subarachnoid space to the pia.

Histology of the dura mater and its sublayers. Underneath the skull lies the periosteal dural sublayer, which is vascular, as we've seen with the location of the meningeal arteries. It ends within the cranium.
