Based on my experience, it is not advisable to use a splitter especially if you are going to set the displays in extend. Instead, connect the first monitor directly to the HDMI slot of the laptop then use a USB to HDMI converter for the 2nd display. You can also use a display hub so you can manage the displays much better.

the driver is supporting multiple monitors, the built in laptop monitor and the external monitor you may be able to extend the desktop across the built in monitor and the external monitor, but anything sent to the external monitor will appear on both. you might be able to use a USB to HDMI converter to connect one of the monitors.

2025年1月3日 · When you said HDMI adapter, I think you meant a splitter? If so, they don't support extending signal. Basically it is the same video signal being splitted into two identical signals. For extending to work, they need to be two different/separate video signals. You need to use a docking hub instead of a simple splitter.

You can use a USB-to-HDMI converter, which will add an HDMI connection from 1 of your USB ports. If your laptop has a USB C port, there are good options for this adaptation.
