In our part of the galaxy the average distance between stars is about 5 light years, so it is unlikely that the closest star to Sirius will be more than about 6 light years closer or farther from the Sun than Sirius is.

As an example of what I mean, in the following illusion the figure spins in different directions depending on whether perceived viewing angle is from above or from below.

The Wikipedia page says that the Milky Way is within a few hundred million light-years of the center of the KBC void, but I'm unable to find out what, if anything, is closest to the center. Is this information available anywhere? Does anyone know what's at the center of the KBC void?

2024年7月5日 · This is about 200 million light years further away than the Cartwheel Galaxy! Now, let's say you want it to be bright. Placing it at the distance of Bode's Galaxy (11.8 million light-years), TON 618 would reach apparent magnitude -2.91, which is already brighter than every star in the night sky or about as bright as Jupiter .
