2009年1月6日 · The wire brush works great and probably cleans better. Usually things that clean better are going to be more abrasive, and I don't doubt that the steel brush is more abrasive on a steel liner than a poly brush, and if you were cleaning your chimney every second day you might wear your liner out a little prematurely.

2009年1月2日 · It is a 6" chimney and a 6" brush. The brushes only come in inch increments. I have an extension rod that I made out of 1" PVC pipe. The stove is a Drolet Austral. Below the outlet for the chimney on the top surface of the stove is the catalytic hoo hah and bypass damper.

2014年7月26日 · After seven years of fall and spring burning - never over wintered here - I cleaned the liner which was new in 2007 for the first time this week with a friend's metal bristle chimney brush. The liner looked clean but the clean-out was full to over flowing and the clean-out is two feet deep - that's a lot of creosote.

2006年11月1日 · The chimney sweep came out today it took him 5 min to remove the brush. He used a hook on 2 rods and pulled it up.Charged 50 bucks over the normal clean charge. I thought that was fair. My chimney is a tall one 35ft so am not not going up there don't like even whatching him go up there.

2012年7月19日 · brush, because it was a little too tight to get all the way down the pipe and through a mild bend. It worked very well. It took less than an hour. The kit has already paid for itself in 2 years, compared to hiring a professional chimney sweep. I think they (Rutland) make them slightly too big for 6" inch chimney pipe.

2014年12月23日 · I've been using a wire brush on my homesaver pro liner for 10+ years now with no issues. I usually brush it a couple times a season and it takes me all of 5-10 minutes to complete. I went with the metal brush because quite often I brush the liner while the stove is still going other than the end of the season cleanout.

2014年11月20日 · Just watched the Sooteater vidio which uses a "special head - cut to size " and rods that quick connect together and when placed in a DRILL can be used to clean a chimney. I use a regular brush " sized to flue " with screw connect rods and pull them backwards and forwards. The tines are made of twisted wire with little nobs on the end.
