Hatchet or saw? - Bushcraft USA Forums
2016年1月9日 · I am wanting to attach either a hatchet or a saw to the outside of my day bag. I have a Sven saw and a Estwing hatchet. I am trying to decide which is the most useful tool to have. If you were out in the boonies which would you rather have to go with your knife? I have a small Gerber lock back...
Tomahawk vs hatchet - Bushcraft USA Forums
2012年8月2日 · It isn't a hatchet with a short handle, nor is it a smaller version of an axe. It was designed, and most are made, by Lennert Petterson, possibly the finest axsmith in Sweden and himself a camper, hunter and fisherman of wide experience, as a utilty woodsman's tool, capable of light cutting, splitting, carving and shaping wood as well as ...
Daddy's old hatchet - Bushcraft USA Forums
2025年1月14日 · Found this hatchet in my barn, it was in some of my Daddy's old tools I inherited when he passed back in 2011. Not sure how old it is, but I remember him having it around 30 years ago when we hunted together. It's not some fancy European or Scandinavian steel with a fine hickory handle, but it's valuable to me.

2020年9月14日 · One that I think very highly of and haven’t seen mentioned here is the Helko Werk Rheinland hatchet. It’s on the heavy side for a hatchet but still quite totable. Chops with more authority than wonderful hatchets like the GB Outdoor Axe and Wildlife. Also a great splitter. Also one of the best hatchets for carving you will ever find.

Machete vs Hatchet - Bushcraft USA Forums
2020年2月2日 · Hatchet. Obviously. Maybe hatchet over knife. OK, if you are in South America (and I know parts of the US feel like South America), maybe. But if your outings are in places with TREES, and you need to process WOOD to make FIRE and other stuff, hatchet. I have five machetes. Little bitty cute ones and really big scary ones. Also medium ones.
Estwing 16” hatchet vs. Council Tool Flying Fox - Bushcraft USA …
2024年11月3日 · I have an available True Temper 1.5 pound hatchet head that I could hang, but I kind of don’t want to have to do that work before I’d have a tool ready to use. I’ve often considered a 16” Council Tool Flying Fox, but I also have seen many Estwing hammers and axes absolutely abused and they just keep working.
Machete vs. Hatchet - Bushcraft USA Forums
2011年12月31日 · I have a Husqvarna Hatchet and a Cold Steel Magnum Kukri that I use regularly and the blade prep on the machete is the game changer. The Kukri came from Cold Steel with a "utility grind" which is code for dull. I spent about an hour with an angle grinder and some sharpening stones to bring the machete into serviceable condition.
