BTX (chemistry) - Wikipedia
In the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries, the initialism BTX refers to mixtures of benzene, toluene, and the three xylene isomers, all of which are aromatic hydrocarbons.
Benzene, along with xylene and toluene, is also used as a component of gasoline. Its use for this purpose is declining, however, as different regions of the country impose limits on benzene because of its known carcinogenicity. Toluene ranked twenty-fifth on the list of the top fifty chemicals in 1997, with 8.3 billion pounds produced.
Xylene - Wikipedia
Xylenes are produced mainly as part of the BTX aromatics (benzene, toluene, and xylenes) extracted from the product of catalytic reforming known as reformate. Several million tons are produced annually. [3] In 2011, a global consortium began construction of one of the world's largest xylene plants in Singapore. [5]

2024年11月1日 · Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) compounds, notably benzene, pose health risks, necessitating monitoring and mitigation strategies. Anthropogenic and natural sources of BTEX compounds are detailed across industrial, residential, transport, and natural environments.
Catalytic Oxidation of BTX (Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene ...
The emission of benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) compounds poses urgent and substantial threats to both the environment and human health. This review systematically analyses the progress in catalyt...
3.3.2 Benzene, toluene and xylene - OpenLearn
The demand for ethylbenzene is always great as a source of styrene monomer, but toluene does not find great use apart from a relatively small application in polyurethane. This is why most toluene is de-alkylated to increase overall benzene production. A …
Transalkylation - Wikipedia
Transalkylation, as used by the petrochemical industry, is often used to convert toluene into benzene and xylenes. This is achieved through a disproportionation reaction of toluene in which one toluene molecule transfers its methyl group to another one.
Selective Synthesis of Benzene, Toluene, and Xylenes from ...
2020年5月28日 · Although direct synthesis of aromatics from synthesis gas (syngas) using a bifunctional catalyst composed of metal oxide and zeolite (OX–ZEO) has attracted extensive attention, the selectivity of benzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTX) remains a challenge.
