2023年3月11日 · Atlas had a large family with connections across Greek mythology. According to the best-known tradition, he was the son of the Titan Iapetus and the Oceanid Clymene, though there was another version in which his mother was Asia (also an Oceanid). Atlas had several brothers, including Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius.

2023年1月6日 · Calypso, daughter of the Titan Atlas, was a Greek nymph and goddess. She lived on the island of Ogygia, where the hero Odysseus was shipwrecked on his way back from the Trojan War. Calypso rescued Odysseus and kept him on the island as her lover until finally commanded to let him go.

2023年3月10日 · The Titans included not only the original twelve children of Gaia and Uranus but also some of their descendants, such as Prometheus, Atlas, Metis, and Leto. Though they were sometimes represented as cruel in Greek mythology, the period during which the Titans ruled was nonetheless regarded as a Golden Age.

2023年9月18日 · The Hyades were daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Oceanid Aethra; their number ranged from two to seven, depending on the source. These goddesses were eventually placed in the sky as stars and were associated with the rainy season. There are at least two versions of the Hyades’ mythology.

With his wife Clymene, he fathered several significant mythological figures, including Atlas, Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius. After helping to overthrow his father Uranus, Iapetus fought against the Olympians in the Titanomachy.

2023年9月19日 · The Hesperides—daughters of Nyx and Erebus or, in later traditions, of Atlas and Hesperis—were Greek sky goddesses who were represented as beautiful young nymphs. They were associated with the evening and the West and served as the guardians of the golden apples that Hera had received from Gaia as a wedding gift.

The son of the Titan Iapetus and his wife (named either Clymene or Asia), Menoetius appears to have fought alongside the other Titans during the Titanomachy. This was the ten-year war between the Titans (led by Cronus) and the Olympians (led by Cronus’ son Zeus) for control of the cosmos.

2023年4月17日 · Other important epithets related to Hermes’ mythology included Atlantiadēs, meaning “descendant of Atlas” (Hermes’ mother, Maia, was the daughter of the Titan Atlas), and Cyllēnios, meaning “Cyllenian” or “of Mount Cyllene” (Mount Cyllene was an important cult center of Hermes, sometimes said to have been his birthplace).
