Amenhotep I (/ ˌ æ m ɛ n ˈ h oʊ t ɛ p /) [5] or Amenophis I (/ ə ˈ m ɛ n oʊ f ɪ s / [6] from Ancient Greek Ἀμένωφις), [7] was the second Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. His reign is generally dated from 1526 to 1506 BC (Low Chronology).

Amenhotep I, was the king of ancient Egypt (reigned 1514–1494 bce), son of Ahmose I, the founder of the 18th dynasty (1539–1292 bce). He effectively extended Egypt’s boundaries in Nubia (modern Sudan).

Born to Ahmose I and his wife, Ahmose Nefertari, Amenhotep, which means “Amun is satisfied”, was the youngest of three sons and was not expected to inherit the throne. However, both of his elder brothers died subsequent to the 17th year of Ahmose's reign, so Amenhotep assumed the throne upon his father's death.
