2016年8月17日 · Hello, this is my first post I am inquiring about the accuracy of the 5 inch barrel on the 460 Smith revolver as compared to the 8 3/8 inch barrel. Smith and Wesson the parent company could not give me any useful information and they refereed me to this forum. I want to use the 460 for bear defense in AK and for hunting hogs in the lower 48.

2020年1月8日 · For me the 460 cartridge in the 460 XVR is the only way to go,, and the 454 Casull in it is not a good match-up. If you can afford to shoot it and keep ammo in your stores, the 460 ammo in the 460 pistol is hard to beat. It is certainly well suited for home loading, and working up a great combination of bullet and powder combinations.

2025年2月4日 · Jack also offers a PIC-A Tiny rear sight mount came with the 460 when I purchased it used from the gun shop. I took this off and saved it in case just in case I go to a Halo dot sight. Jacks offers a 2 ring ,3 ring , and 4 ring set for one price on his site. The 3 ring is recommended for the 460 S&W , and 4 ring for the S&W 500.

2012年9月15日 · 460 ammo is slightly cheaper than 500 ammo plus you have the versatility of being able to fire 454 Casull or 45 Colt for less power and less strain on the wallet. That said, I bought the 500 because as Greg said, it is a good bit of a conversation piece.

2021年8月2日 · In looking at the Alliant load data info, the 460 is not listed using Blue Dot. I do not know if the list is recently updated or it is not a good match for the 460 S&W. While I’m shooting much heavier bullets (400 grain cast) for my hunting loads.....I’m using WW296 (good velocities, and accuracy) which is capable of sub-3” groups @ 100 ...

2011年7月18日 · I have shot .460 Mag, .454 casull, and .45 long colt in my S&W .469 revolver. Are there other cartridges that are safe to use in it? What about .45 ACP with moon type clips or 21/2 inch .410?

2015年8月23日 · The side flash will amputate any digit that happens to be in the way. Had a buddy take a picture of me discharging both the 460 and my 44 at dusk and the muzzle flash as well as the side flash is awesome. Amy calls the 460 a hand Howitzer. One of my friends has a 500 smith. I find the 460 more potent than the 500, especially in muzzle velocity.

2023年11月6日 · I have inherited a 460 performance center 14" and would appreciate some information on it. Regarding the safety recall, I'm not sure how the serial number of the revolver I have falls into the list as posted on the SW website (PERFORMANCE CENTER MODEL 460 SAFETY RECALL). It is MAX0007 and does not have a punch dot in the yoke opening.

2017年12月3日 · As to the 460, I have a strong preference for fully jacketed 460 rounds. The make the gun easier to clean and really shows the potential for what the gun can do. I think shooting the big bore calibers have also helped me with my 45 ACP caliber guns. With a 460, you are really going to learn how to grip, steady, and hold the gun in a iron clad grip.

2022年6月17日 · I recently purchased my .460 XVR with 14" barrel and a Burris 2-7x32 matte silver scope with a 1" tube. I've spent I don't know how many hours trying to find decent scope rings that are silver!
