2023年7月23日 · The song was written by 10cc’s major songwriters, Graham Gouldman, (singing lead and playing bass), and Eric Stewart (seated at piano, wearing sunglasses). The song was based on two different incidents that had occurred. One was when Stewart and Justin Hayward traveled to Barbados, the other what occurred to Gouldman while visiting Jamaica.

On the sleeve notes to the album "Bloody Tourists" which contains "Dreadlock Holiday" Paul Burgess plays alsorts of various instruments on that track from cowbells, congas, marimba, triangle, agogô and timbales. From that list of instruments my guess would be the marimba. Though Moog synthesizers are all over the album and may have been used.

It also reached #2 in Ireland and Australia,and became a top 10 hit in Norway and Switzerland, and top 20 in Germany and Sweden. In America, "Dreadlock Holiday" became a minor hit, reaching #30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

10cc had three UK No. 1s, and all three sound nothing alike. "Rubber Bullets" is basically a glam rock song with some art rock influence. "I'm Not in Love" - their most famous song - is basically 70s soft rock with a strong prog-pop influence. And "Dreadlock Holiday" is pop reggae. I like 10cc.

2021年8月1日 · Once they got “Consequences” out of their system, they made some fun and challenging albums. The problem was the balance of Stewart and Gouldman missing (and likewise with Stewart and Gouldman). Of their post Godley and Crème albums, “Deceptive Bends” (which you mentioned)“Dreadlock Holiday” and “Ten Out of 10” all hold up well.
