The Merkava (Hebrew: מֶרְכָּבָה, [mɛʁkaˈva] ⓘ, " chariot ") [ 5 ] is a series of main battle tanks used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the backbone of the IDF's Armored Corps.
