2024年10月1日 · Morphine epidural injection is used to relieve pain following a major surgery. It is given right before a surgery or during a cesarean section delivery right after the baby's umbilical cord is clamped. Morphine belongs to the group of medicines called narcotic analgesics (pain medicines). It acts on the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain.

If other measures don't relieve pain that radiates down the leg, an injection of cortisone plus a numbing medicine might help. A cortisone injection into the space around the spinal cord helps decrease inflammation around the nerve roots, but the pain relief often lasts only a month or two.

Clonidine injection is used with injected pain medicine to treat pain in cancer patients. Clonidine is to be started under the immediate supervision of your doctor.
