2003年8月1日 · Egghead was a chain of computer stores that also sold on the web similar to Comp USA. They came upon hard times and were bought up along with some other losers like Cardinal Modems by Paul Allen, Bill Gates partner in Microsoft. They couldn't be made profitable and disappeared .

2005年9月25日 · Used to shop at Egghead back in the 80's and 90's, then they went bankrupt, did an online strategy and failed at that, then disappeared. I always wondered if the name Newegg was related.

2015年9月25日 · Computer Shopper was a monthly magazine (with 90% ads), not a catalog, but it's probably what you're thinking of. I remember thinking how smart I was in that era to spend a couple hundred more for a PC from Ares Microdevelopment because they were the only maker to put the CPU on a daughterboard, and do the same with RAM.

2002年1月12日 · I remember EggHead as primarily a software retailer but wasn't into computars and only ever went there with a friend when they wanted to buy a PC game. But later I do remember buying schtuff from Onsale and being aware of their aquisition and ultimate absorption by Amazon since personally following the internets boom.

2000年7月18日 · Some sites list it as a full tower but is more of a mid tower size, fairly good for overclocking since it has an open design interior with room for 2 additional case fans. Back when I was building systems around this case they were shipping with decent SPI power supplies. Egghead has the T10 for around $79 + $7 shipping.

2001年6月25日 · It is easy to calculate the max possible from a typical computer. Suppose you have a 300W power supply and a 19" monitor that uses up to 120W (but 110W typically). Thus at most a properly functioning computer will use 420W = 1433 BTU/hr. But of course that is a maximum. You rarely would need a full 300W from your power supply.

2000年2月6日 · just wondering. my uncle told me that the other day. i dont find it that hard to believe just cuz how they hell do you think up a name of a company using egg. but egghead got so big it went under when most .coms went under. but will newegg suffer the same fate or did the owners learn? or is my uncle out of it, and the same ppl didnt own both?
