Where are my desktop items? - Microsoft Community
I have a fair number of items on my Windows 7 desktop - folders into which I put recipes or research PDFs or links to programs etc. I can open the folders or use the links on the desktop itself - all fine. I can access the PDFs in the folders - all fine.

The symbols are either white crosses in tiny red circles or green ticks in tiny green symbols. Others have tiny cloud symbols. What are these; should I be worried; can I remove them?

2023年4月3日 · This solution does not work. I do not have auto arrange or the grid checked on the view for my desk top- I have also disabled the themes setting as well. There has to be another way to keep Windows from moving my desktop icons to the left every single time I rename one!

If you want to delete the underlying program to which the shortcut or executable icon applies, go to Control Panel / Programs and Features.
