2023年1月15日 · This monument was originally constructed at the site of the killing of three soldiers on February 28, 1948. The three were Allied veterans of the Gold Coast Regiment of the Royal West African Frontier force in World War II and were on their way to present a protest document about the lack of pensions from their war time duties.

2023年10月28日 · Here in Mesch (Eijsden County) began the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allies. Units of the US 30th Infantry Division (nicknamed “Old Hickory”) crossed over the Dutch-Belgian border at 10 am on September 12, 1944 not far from this monument.
