Costco A/R flakes off like chocolate flakes off of chocolate-dipped strawberries whereas Crizal A/R becomes defective only with a scratch deep enough to gouge the lens. As for progressives, the difference is easily visible with a wavefront lensmeter. Costco PALs have narrower viewing areas than the newest PALs on the market.

2022年4月1日 · If you wear glasses the optical department is one of the best reasons to have a Costco membership. Quality is on par or better with any of the mall vision stores and the price can't be beat. The last two pairs I got using mediocre insurance from work. I got the exam, new frames and lenses with zero out-of-pocket.

For the eye doctor-- figure out their name and search reviews, pricing differs from doctor to doctor as well but is generally afordable and most take varying types of insurance. Costco optical department is amazing!!! I will likely never get glasses elsewhere (have been getting Costco glasses and contacts since I was in 6th grade).

2023年5月7日 · Since you're asking about both Optometry and Optical, just FYI - the "Eye Exam" or "Optometrist" subleases a space inside Costco for their private practice so since each one operates independently from Costco, your mileage may vary. I'd suggest looking up reviews on Yelp or online for that specific location or specific Doctor of Optometry.

Costco optical can definitely be worth it not even for frames (selection is small and not always great), but for getting high index and/or prescription sunglass lenses done, even for frames you bought somewhere else. Most places charge really high premiums for high index and prescription sunglass lenses, Costco is much cheaper for both.

The on-site optometrist did a good job, everyone was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable for lenses & frames (although we do have VSP insurance for optical). They also don't push the upsell.

2023年10月16日 · The ID Lifestyle is a premium tier and Array is a mid tier lens from Hoya. Based on this research, I conclude Costco Optical switched to new suppler Hoya and is dispensing great quality lenses for unbeatable price. I hope this information helps anyone planning to buy progressive eye glasses from Costco but not sure about quality.

Frames are guaranteed for one year, lenses for two years. All of the Costco Optical staff were very knowledgable and easily able to answer all of my questions! 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

2023年1月8日 · I can't speak to Target and Walmart optical (although Target optical is Luxottica, they probably use the same labs as LensCrafters and Pearle Vision) but Costco is good for the price. The quality of Costco's high-index lenses is good in terms of field of view, etc (comes aspheric by default) but the lens material clearly isn't the best.
