Some older model Sunny Boy have turbine profiles, which might work better. One issue to consider is inrush; the inverter input capacitors would look like a short initially to the generator.

You are actually looking at a hybrid inverter and this has an output it feeds when the grid goes down called backup loads. It will feed these backup loads when the grid is down but there must not be any connection from this circuit to the grid.

Basically, the grid tie inverter has a special mode called Micro Grid that let it work without the grid. You need a Victron Multiplus as brain of the system to handle the different flow of AC and distriibute the power correctly.
