Hi TG6, if you no longer have access to the Dropbox account, and the Dropbox desktop application is no longer linked to the account in question, then you should be able to delete the folders from your computer.

Many thanks to the Dropbox team - especially Walter for helping me resolve this issue. In my case one fo the 9 sharers of a top level folder was adding back a multi layered sub folder, containing no files, each time the administrator attempted to delete it.

Sounds like they're viewing the file through a share link, which provides view and download access only, rather than joining a shared folder.

Shared folder content engage capacity for all sharers, not just to the owner as you have thought. 🤷 Dropbox politics! That's why you capacity gets exhausted quickly. As a workaround, instead of folder share, content owner can provide shared link to let you access the folder and file request to let you (and possibly others) upload files.
