The only things not original about mine: 1 tube that's non-Philco, but with a neat radio service shop label, and penciled note on the chassis with tube replacement date in 1949. Well, the brown reverse paint on the glass dial flaking off is certainly not original, either. I don't power it up; it sits on the shelf.

Younger people may consider a transistor set made in the 1980s to be an "old radio". If you posted the make and model of the radio under discussion, it would resolve much uncertainty.

2017年12月30日 · My old radio had a factory directional loop antenna that would've done the job in 1947 when a neighbors' ham radio or faulty ignition system was the only noise source, but these days there are noise generators all over the house and the indoor system was worthless. I set up a 50 ft. wire antenna and fed one end through a length of RG-8 coax.

2008年4月1日 · Its a old Meissenger table top radio that covers BC and some shortwave. It was orginially a kit radio, some one made a nice cabinet for it. Ok I have gone from severe AC hum so bad you could not hear a station if it was there.

You will first need to determine where the detector (Cat's Whisker or Diode) goes, in the circuit. AFA the front connectors, one for antenna, one for ground, two for the headphone (or amplifier), and I dunno what the last one is for.
