Meadville and Uniontown’s PIAA state playoff contest ended with violence in the stands on Friday night, leading to an early end to the game.

The Meadville boys basketball team was declared the victor in Friday’s game against Uniontown, but after a melee ended the game early, the future for the Bulldogs' season is uncertain.

As of early Saturday, the PIAA had yet to advance a team in the Class 5A bracket after a fight broke out at Friday's Meadville vs Uniontown game.

"Due to an unfortunate incident that occurred during last night's boys' basketball game, the game was brought to an early conclusion. While we regret this unexpected ending, the safety and well-being of players, fans, and staff remain our top priority," said a spokesperson for Meadville Area Senior High School.

Friday's PIAA first round boys basketball contest between Meadville and Uniontown was called with 3:12 left to play after a melee broke out in the stands.

With just minutes left to play, a fight spilled out onto the court during a high school basketball game between Uniontown and Meadville.
