A 15-year-old student was arrested after a gun detection system prevented a weapon from entering Lawrence North High School, according to police and school officials, who confirmed the teen was taken into custody on preliminary charges of possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a firearm by a minor.

A Santa Rosa high school student was arrested for taking a loaded gun to school on Tuesday, police said. Around 1 p.m., police went to Elsie Allen High School for a report that a student may have a gun.
