UVa faculty, staff and students have been urged to shelter in place while police search the area of Alderman Road for a man with known gang ties Tuesday morning.

UVA was placed under a shelter in place earlier Tuesday afternoon, due to a potential armed suspect in the area.

Northbound traffic on County Road 1 will be limited to right turns only onto Alderman Road. Motorists are strongly advised to follow all posted traffic signs and detours when navigating the area.
