Police: Man who shot at Cedar Rapids officers had stolen injured dog
A Grimes man who arrested Thursday in Cedar Rapids after an 11-hour standoff whot at Cedar Rapids police at least three times during the altercation, a criminal complaint filed Friday shows.
Man arrested following standoff in Cedar Rapids allegedly stole a dog from animal shelter
Des Moines police said the stolen dog was safely rescued in Cedar Rapids, and has been returned to the care of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Staff with the ARL gave the dog the name Dionysus. The dog was limping but in good spirits. Staff say the dog will be undergoing further medical treatment.
