That’s according to PetaPixel, which during a tour of Sigma’s Japanese HQ, was told that making the Sigma BF’s aluminum housing requires seven hours of milling by two machines. That amounts to a production output of about nine cameras per day.

The Sigma BF looks like a luxury tech company’s bid to enter the imaging industry. Either that or a prop from 2001: A Space Odyssey – I’ve never seen a full-frame camera like it!

To most people born before 1997, sigma is little more than the eighteenth letter of the Greek alphabet, but for a member of Gen Z there is no higher compliment, which makes the Sigma BF a very appropriately named camera.
