Mooooove over New York Strip, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says he is fighting to ensure his state's cattle ranchers get their proper credit for the delicious steak sizzling on your plate.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the Texas Senate would work to change the name of the New York Strip to the “Texas Strip.” The change would apply to the cuts of meat in the Lone Star State only. Patrick attributed the need for the change to Texas-raised cattle and the Texas cattle ranchers.

The Ten Commandments and official prayer periods could be coming to public school classrooms across Texas if a pair of bills moving through the state Senate become law. The proposals, heard Tuesday in a Senate committee,

"Separation of church and state, that's not in the Constitution anywhere," said state Sen. Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston, who authored SB 11.

SB 10 would require the Ten Commandments to be posted in all classrooms.
