The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are working toward a new contract for wide receiver Chris Godwin as general manager Jason Licht and head coach Todd Bowles rained praise on him when speaking to reporters at the scouting combine Tuesday in Indianapolis.

Chris Godwin is one of the best players on the Bucs roster, and one of the most popular with fans. The team and it's fans appreciate what Godwin does on the field but also off the field. That type of value to a team and franchise is not overlooked by many.

Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin's contract was set to void earlier this month, but Godwin agreed to move the date to the day before the start of the new league year in order to give him and the team more time to work on a contract extension.
