Pepperdine University sued Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery on Thursday, claiming their upcoming comedy series about a Los Angeles pro basketball team called the Waves violates the school's trademarks.

Hulu has handed a series order to Not Suitable For Work, a half-hour, single-camera comedy from Warner Bros. Television. Additionally, Mindy Kaling, the series’ creator and executive producer, has renewed her big overall deal with Warner Bros.

Pepperdine University claims that the studios infringed on its trademarks with the fictional basketball team in the new comedy series.

Ahead of its Netflix premiere on Feb. 27, Mindy Kaling‘s new sports comedy series Running Point is already making waves. On Thursday, Pepperdine University announced a trademark infringement lawsuit against Netflix and Warner Bros.

The lawsuit claims the show promotes themes that don’t correspond to the university’s values, including alcohol and substance use, sexual innuendo and imagery, and foul language.
