The Tasmanian town of Zeehan and other coastal communities are in the path of bushfires, with the residents of one tiny town saying they'll take to the beach if things get too bad.

Firefighters from several agencies, including aerial water-bombing teams, are fighting more than 20 blazes between the Cradle Mountain National Park and the coast between Pieman Heads and Sandy Cape.
